____________

I'm using this to make my own flashcards with Anki software and have found a number of errors, for example:
- "laptop computer" is translated as "ordinateur potable," which makes it a "potable" (safe to drink) computer - it should be "ordinateur portable"
- "bicycle" is missing the accent on the "e" and is translated as "velo" when it should be "vélo"
- "kidney" is translated incorrectly as "rien" (which means "nothing") and should be "rein"
- "asparagus" is "asperge" but in the book is translated incorrectly as "esperge"
- "hospital" is "hôpital" but in the book is incorrectly translated as "hôspital"
- and a bunch of nouns are listed with the wrong gender.
Having found these errors (at least the ones I recognize with the French I already know), this leaves me not trusting the spelling/translation of the words I don't know, so I'm double-checking with a dictionary as I make my cards. Kind of a deal-breaker, given that this book is intended to be an educational aid.

1001 French Flash Cards French Vocabulary Builder edition by Daniel McKay Reference eBooks Reviews

I was very happily surprised how useful these flash cards were. When I have just 5 minutes to do something these are great to flick through and they really do seem to help me expand my French vocabulary. I would recommend these as an extra learning tool to anybody learning French.
These flash cards are very helpful. I can take the flash cards anywhere to study. Organized for ease of use.
This book helped me increase my vocabulary and built my confidence. I highly recommend this for beginners and intermediates.
Helpful book !
This is a good way to learn some French nouns after you have learned some verbs first, to put them together.
Flash cards are an easy tool for trying through repetition to understand such a beautiful language. We have different learning styles whether visually, kinesthetic ally, or by using our auditory skills. We all have strengths and weaknesses we are smart to compensate for in life. A tape recorder and colorful markers, a long legal pad and these flash cards are my tools for dissecting this romantic language.
Meh. I should have known better by now when a book sells so cheap. Honestly, I have to agree with the others that this is pretty useless. The text is minimal to the extreme and there are no phonetic markers to help with pronunciation. If it hadn't been for the language apps I use I wouldn't have been able to pronounciate most of the words correctly.

So folks, take it from me, don't even bother. There must be better ways to spend 99 cents. Heck, try Duolingo. Not only is the interface fun (and free) but it's also amusing. You'll have to tranaslate stuff like "The shark eats a red apple" (Le requin mange une pomme rouge). Not to mention it has a thriving community base with real users willing to help a sister out.
